Hiked two SPS peaks with the Sierra Club under the wonderful leadership of Bill and Virginia Simpson.  Once we got to the trailhead for San Ysidro, it was a quick jaunt to the summit, where we enjoyed the wonderful views, and it was decided to try and climb "The Thimble" on the way back to the cars.  After we got to the saddle of the Thimble, we followed our fearless climber, Jimmy, up and over the slowly but surely larger and steeper angled rocks and boulders to a point where we had to scale a class 3 section.  This was where most of the group called it a day and climbed back down.  Sandy, Peter, and Jimmy had the experience to scale the peak successfully though.  Kudos to them!

Once back at the cars, we drove to the trailhead for Combs.  The first two miles to the base of the peak, is on the PCT, and Bill "smoked" this section in record time.  Getting to the peak is via a well defined use trail, and we all made it in good time.  At the summit, Bill pulled a silver "brick" from his backpack, which revealed a delicious homemade  BANANA bread!  What a wonderful surprise.  Guess this needs to become a tradition now...

The hike back down to the cars was uneventful, and we all celebrated another great day in the "hills".
